New Karwal Engineering Works (Regd.) was established as a Sole Proprietorship firm in the year 1973 by Mr. Sadhu Singh Karwal with a visionary mindset.
Today, New Karwal Engineering Works (Regd.) are leading manufacturers and exporters of a wide range of hydraulic self-centering steady rests, customized steady rests, CNC turning, CNC grinder steady rests, and various other machine tool parts.
In order to meet the bulk demand of steady rest in India and in the international market, we have set up our manufacturing unit in Ludhiana (Punjab, India).

Hydraulic Self Centering Steady Rests
The problem with traditional types of steady rests is that they are adjusted manually by an operator. The operator adjusts the screws of steady rest that are 120 degrees apart from each other. These kinds of manual adjustments do not guarantee accuracy.
Here comes the role of our specially designed self centering hydraulic steady rest. The three rollers hold the steady rest 120 degrees apart and prevents the workpiece from dislocation.

Steady rests are the equipment used in industrial applications for the purpose of holding a workpiece. They are helpful in enhancing the overall quality and output of the machine. Some common steady rests are turning steady rest, hydraulic steady rest, self-centering side mounted steady rest, etc. New Karwal Engineering manufactures self-centering hydraulic steady rests which are more efficient as compared to manual steady rests.
Workholding solutions are used to keep the workpiece in its place while doing grinding, milling, cutting, and drilling. They support the workpiece and make sure that it is fabricated within specified limits of tolerance. Workholding solutions also hinder the distortion in the workpiece.
The purpose of steady rest is to hold the workpiece at its position while facilitating various cnc operations on it. In cases, when the length of the workpiece is too long and its diameter is too large then steady rests are used in order to provide support and assistance.
The term grinding refers to the removal of unwanted material from the workpiece. The steady rest used to facilitate the grinding process is called grinding steady rest and various materials are used to assist the tool contact such as white metal, bronze, pertinax, etc.
These steady rests are specially designed to hold the large diameters of the crankshaft and support crankshaft grinding and turning in CNC or lathe machines. New Karwal Engineering manufactures self-centering steady rest such that the process of finding the center is automated.
The steady rest specially designed for turning the workpiece are called turning steady rests. They are used when clamping force of the chuck and tailstock is low and you need an additional clamping tool. So, turning steady rests are helpful in turning long, thin and heavy shafts.
In certain CNC or lathe machines, when you mount a steady rest, certain parts of it may interfere with the normal working of the machine such as doors or lubrication systems. In this case, the hydraulic cylinder of steady rest is side mounted.
